What changes the price of a lab grown diamond ring
Carat weight
A bigger center stone costs more, but less than many people expect. Our Oval Solitaire in 14K gold is $1,200 at 1 carat, $1,390 at 1.5 carats, $1,590 at 2 carats and $1,970 at 3 carats. Going from 1 carat to 3 carats adds $770.
Metal
Metal can move the price as much as carat. The same 1.5 carat Oval Solitaire costs $740 in 925 sterling silver, $1,120 in 9K gold, $1,390 in 14K gold, $1,580 in platinum and $1,770 in 18K gold. White, yellow and rose gold cost the same within each karat. At Ronora, platinum costs more than 14K gold but less than 18K gold on almost every ring. Our 14K vs 18K gold guide and platinum guide explain how the metals wear.
Setting and accent diamonds
Halos, pave bands and side stones add small diamonds and more hand work, but the design and the amount of metal matter just as much. With a 2 carat oval center in 14K gold, our Oval Side Stone Ring is $1,510, the Oval Hidden Halo Solitaire $1,580, the plain Oval Solitaire $1,590 and the Oval Pave Solitaire $1,670. Our three piece bridal set with two matching bands is $2,850.
Shown: Oval Side Stone Ring, from $650 in 925 silver.
Shape
At 1 carat in 14K gold, oval starts lowest at $1,120, then round at $1,200, marquise at $1,350, emerald and pear at $1,390, Dutch marquise at $1,480 and radiant at $1,550. Elongated shapes such as oval, marquise and pear also look longer on the finger than a round of the same weight.
Diamond grades
Every price in this guide is for the same grades: VVS-VS clarity, D-E-F colorless and Excellent cut. We do not lower the grade to reach a lower price, so the differences you see come from carat, metal, shape and design.
What every Ronora price includes

Why lab grown diamond prices have fallen
Lab grown diamonds cost far less than they did a few years ago. Industry analyst Edahn Golan reports that the retail price of a 1 carat lab grown diamond fell by more than 76% between early 2020 and mid 2025, and a 2 carat by 80%. At wholesale, a 1 carat stone went from about $1,800 per carat in mid 2018 to about $80 per carat by mid 2026 (Edahn Golan, Lab-Grown Diamond Statistics).
The fall is slowing down. Wholesale prices dropped 26% over 2025, but the drop in the last quarter of 2025, 4.7%, was the smallest so far (Edahn Golan, lab grown wholesale prices in 2025). For context, BriteCo's appraisal data put the median lab grown engagement ring at $4,557 in 2025 (BriteCo).
One honest note: because new lab grown diamonds keep getting cheaper, their resale value is low. Choose one because you love the ring, not as an investment.

At Ronora, platinum costs more than 14K gold, adding $150 to $350 on the rings in this guide, but less than 18K gold on almost every ring. White, yellow and rose gold cost the same within each karat.
Will lab grown diamond prices keep falling?
They have fallen for years, but more slowly now. Wholesale prices dropped 26% in 2025, and the last quarter of 2025 had the smallest drop so far, 4.7%, according to analyst Edahn Golan. Nobody can promise where prices go next, so buy a lab grown diamond for the ring itself, not as an investment.
Why do two rings with the same carat weight cost different amounts?
Because the metal, the setting and the design change the price as much as the diamond does. With the same 2 carat round center in 14K gold, our Round Twist Solitaire is $1,610, while our Round Two Tone Solitaire, with interlocking white and yellow gold shoulders, is $3,180.
