Moissanite is not a diamond. It is silicon carbide, a separate gemstone first identified in a meteorite crater in 1893 and now grown in laboratories. It is the closest stone to diamond in hardness and the only one that out-sparkles it. Every ring in this collection is set with moissanite, never lab grown diamond, and each is made to order in 9K, 14K or 18K solid gold.
Different material entirely. A lab grown diamond is carbon and tests as diamond because it is diamond. Moissanite is silicon carbide and tests as moissanite. Moissanite has higher refractive index, so it throws more coloured light, often called fire, which some people prefer and others find too flashy for an engagement ring.
9.25 on the Mohs scale, against 10 for diamond. That makes it the second hardest gemstone used in jewelry and entirely suitable for daily wear over decades.
Will it pass a diamond tester? A basic thermal tester may read it as diamond. A modern dual tester distinguishes them correctly. Ronora never sells moissanite as diamond.
Why choose moissanite? Price, and fire. It costs considerably less per carat than a lab grown diamond and sparkles more brightly.
