Less than you would expect. A 2 carat round measures about 8.1mm against 6.5mm for a 1 carat, so it is roughly 25 percent wider, not twice as wide. Carat measures weight, and weight grows faster than width. This is why shape and setting matter more than raw carat at this size.
For most buyers, yes. A 2 carat lab grown diamond of VVS-VS clarity and D-E-F colour typically costs less than a 1 carat mined stone of the same grade, while being the same material with the same hardness and optics.
Which shapes suit 2 carats best? Elongated cuts. An oval, radiant or emerald at 2 carats covers far more of the finger than a round of the same weight.
Does it need a stronger setting? At 2 carats and above Ronora recommends six prongs or a bezel, and a reinforced shank in 14K gold or platinum.
