December is the most popular month of the year to propose. The lights, the time with family and the feeling of a new year ahead make Christmas a natural moment to ask. This guide gives you proposal ideas that feel personal, and a simple timeline so the ring is in your pocket before the big day.

Christmas proposal ideas
1. The ornament box
Hang a small box on the tree that looks like any other ornament. When the family gathers, ask her to open the one you made "just for her".
2. Christmas morning, last gift
Let every other present be opened first. Keep the ring box for the end, wrapped inside a bigger box so she has no idea what is coming.
3. A walk through the lights
Choose a street, park or garden known for its Christmas lights. Stop at the brightest spot. Ask a friend or a photographer to wait nearby so the moment is captured.
4. The advent countdown
Fill an advent calendar with small notes about your story, one memory for each day. The final door holds the question.
5. A cabin weekend
A fireplace, snow outside and no phones. Propose in the evening, then spend the rest of the weekend celebrating, just the two of you.
6. Christmas Eve with family
If family means everything to her, propose with the people she loves around you. Tell one person in advance so they can film it.
7. New Year's Eve
Propose just before midnight and start the new year engaged.
Choosing the ring
If you are not sure which style she would choose, look at the jewelry she already wears. Classic, simple pieces suggest a solitaire. If she loves sparkle, a halo ring makes the centre stone look larger. Oval engagement rings are one of the most requested shapes right now, and they flatter most hands.
Every Ronora engagement ring is set with lab grown diamonds graded D-E-F colourless, VVS-VS clarity and Excellent cut, grown with CVD technology. Centre stones of 1 carat and above come with an IGI report. Browse all of our lab grown diamond engagement rings.
Getting the ring size right, secretly
- Borrow a ring she wears on her ring finger and trace the inside on paper, then use our size guide.
- Ask her best friend or her mother, who may know her size.
- If you are unsure, choose the larger size. A ring that is slightly loose is safer on the day than one that will not fit over the knuckle.
Website orders include free resizing within 6 months of the order, so the size can be adjusted after the proposal. You only cover the delivery to our workshop.
