How many rings can you stack?

Do the metals have to match?

No. Mixed metal stacking is now more common than matching, and a rose gold band between two white gold ones reads as intentional. What matters more is profile: keep the rings similar in height so the stack sits level.

Will stacked rings scratch each other? Slightly, over years. Platinum and 14K gold resist it better than 18K. The wear is even across the stack, so it reads as patina rather than damage.
