This collection gathers every Ronora piece set with marquise stones, across rings, bands, pendants and earrings. The marquise has the longest outline of any diamond shape at a given carat weight, so it covers more finger than anything else we cut. Every marquise piece here is set with real CVD lab grown diamonds, VVS-VS clarity, D-E-F colorless.
Carat is a measure of weight, not size. The marquise spreads that weight across the longest possible footprint, so a 1 carat marquise measures about 10mm long against 6.5mm across for a 1 carat round. That is over half again the length at exactly the same weight, and the length is what visually slims the finger. Face-up it covers a similar area to a round; it is the silhouette that does the work. Two things. Symmetry, since both points must align on a single axis and any tilt is immediately visible. And the points themselves, which are the most fragile part of any diamond shape and should always be protected by V-prongs, a bezel or a halo.
No. A Dutch Marquise is an elongated hexagon with six straight sides and no curve anywhere in the outline, where a marquise is a navette with two curved wings. They share the name and the two points and very little else. See the Dutch Marquise collection or read the full guide.
Which orientation is used? North-south along the finger is traditional and elongating. East-west set marquise stones are increasingly used in bands and eternity rings for a more modern line.
Does it suit a wedding band? Very well. Marquise stones set east-west make distinctive half-eternity bands.
What clarity and colour do you stock? VVS-VS clarity in the D-E-F Colorless range, Excellent cut, every time. Two narrow tips means two places for warmth to gather, so the colour grade matters more on this shape than on most.
