A 1 carat centre stone is the most requested size in lab grown diamond engagement rings, and the point where IGI certification begins at Ronora. Every stone here is a real CVD lab grown diamond, VVS-VS clarity, D-E-F colorless, identical in chemical and optical properties to a mined diamond.
A 1 carat round measures roughly 6.5mm across. Shape changes that considerably: a 1 carat oval or marquise looks noticeably larger because it spreads its weight across the surface, while a 1 carat princess or cushion looks slightly smaller because more weight sits in the depth.
It is the threshold where a centre stone reads clearly as a centre stone from across a room, and at Ronora it is where IGI certification starts. Below it, certification is available but not standard; above it, price rises faster than apparent size.
What does the IGI certificate cover? Independent grading of carat, cut, clarity and colour, plus a laser inscription on the girdle matching the stone to its report.
Which setting makes 1 carat look largest? A halo, which can add the appearance of half a carat or more. A hidden halo adds light without changing apparent size.
