What separates a radiant from an emerald cut?

The faceting underneath. Both have a rectangular outline with cropped corners, but an emerald cut is a step cut with long flat facets producing broad flashes, while a radiant has brilliant faceting producing dense scattered sparkle. Same silhouette, completely different behaviour in light.

Is a radiant good for coloured diamonds?

Exceptionally. Its deep pavilion and brilliant faceting concentrate and reflect colour back through the table, which is why so many fancy yellow diamonds are cut as radiants. Ronora sets several fancy yellow radiants for exactly this reason.

Frequently asked questions

Square or elongated? A square radiant reads bold and modern. An elongated radiant, around 1.3 to 1.5, flatters the finger and looks larger per carat.

Are the corners durable? Yes. The cropped corners are far less chip-prone than a princess cut's sharp points.
