Pave Rings | Lab Grown Diamond | VVS CVD

Pave is a setting technique, not a diamond shape. Small stones are set close together in tiny beads of metal so the surface reads as continuous light rather than as individual diamonds, and the French word means paved, like a cobbled street. What is the difference between pave and micro pave?

Scale. Standard pave uses stones around 1 to 2 millimetres. Micro pave uses stones below 1 millimetre, set in far greater numbers, which produces a smoother and more continuous surface but requires more skilled hand setting.

Does a pave band lose stones?

Well-set pave is secure, but it is a more delicate setting than bezel or channel because the beads holding each stone are small. Ronora sets pave by hand and includes free lifetime warranty; a ring worn during heavy manual work is better served by a bezel setting.

Frequently asked questions

Can a pave band be resized? Partly. A band set across the top only can usually be resized from the plain underside. A fully pave band cannot be resized far without disturbing the setting.

Does pave make the centre stone look bigger? Yes. A pave shank narrows the visual frame around the centre, which makes the centre stone read larger than it does on a plain band.
